I love chalkboard paint and all of the fun things you can create. There are so many things you can do with chalkboard paint, but making a table runner? Now that’s genius! When I found this table runner on Anthropologie I just had to re-create it for you. Besides, I had plenty of vinyl fabric leftover from a previous project and I have chalkboard paint and brushes on hand. Total cost for this Chalkboard Table Runner {Anthropologie Knock-Off}…ZERO! I love it when projects cost me ZERO, don’t you?
Chalkboard Table Runner {Anthropologie Knock-Off}
Supplies Needed:
- vinyl fabric (Ask your craft store where the remnants are, I remember when I purchased mine I was able to buy it very cheap!)
- chalkboard paint
- paint brush
Once you have all of your supplies gathered up, it’s time to get started!
Step 1: Lightly iron your fabric (wrongside) to remove any wrinkles.
Step 2: Place a protectant over your workspace so you don’t accidentally paint your floor.
Step 3: Apply your chalkboard paint to the vinyl fabric and allow to dry for an hour.
Step 4: Apply a second coat of paint to your fabric. If needed, wait an hour and then apply a third. Allow the paint to dry for a full 24 hours before you condition it.
Step 5: Condition the table runner by lightly rubbing chalk over the runner and then wiping clean with a soft, dry cloth. You are then ready to use it!
I cannot wait to have our first cookout and use our new Chalkboard Table Runner. I think the kids will love seeing this fun runner, and maybe even enjoy coloring for a bit before we serve dinner.
When finished, just use a soft dry cloth to remove any of the chalk and store until your next meal.
This is such a fun project, and one that doesn’t require any power tools or special skills. It’s a great project for a beginner and one that the entire family will have fun with at dinner time.
Now go and grab yourself some vinyl fabric and paint and make your very own Chalkboard Table Runner {Anthropologie Knock-Off} and have fun entertaining.
