For the last several months I have been trying to “detox” my house of all of the chemical cleaners. There are just so many different chemicals running through all of these products that I want my family to be healthier and happier and a little more chemical free. Now, I haven’t gone completely chemical free, but I am slowly working on it! I made an awesome dusting spray, cleaned my microwave without chemicals, and now I am going to share this DIY All Natural Glass Cleaner to get ready for some much needed Spring Cleaning.
To make this glass cleaner you need just a few items on hand. It’s so easy to make, I can’t believe I had not thought of making it sooner. In fact, it’s a little like the dusting spray I made, but with different amount of each ingredient. So if you have a few items on hand, you can make this, too!
DIY All Natural Glass Cleaner
Here is what you will need:
- Glass Spray Bottle
- water
- 2/3 cup white vinegar
- 10 drops Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) OR Lemon essential oil (this is the brand that I use)
- 1/4 tsp olive oil
Mix 2/3 cup white vinegar, 1 1/3 cups water, 1/4 tsp olive oil, and 10 drops of the tea tree OR Lemon essential oil. It will be helpful to use a funnel to get the ingredients into the glass bottle, but you don’t have to have one.
Once you have all of your ingredients mixed, make sure you slap on this free printable sticker label that identifies it as your new glass cleaner.
Now it’s time to clean!
The best way to get streak free, clean windows is to actually clean them on a cloudy day. Cleaning them in direct sunlight can allow the mixture to dry too quickly and possibly leave streaks. To get a completely streak free shine, clean windows on a cloudy day with a lint free cloth, or when the sun is not hitting the windows directly.
This works great on mirrors as well! Just look at that streak-free shine.

I love this DIY All Natural Glass Cleaner. Not only does it work really well, but it has a pleasant scent without that nasty chemical smell. Give it a try! Make up a batch and get your family closer to a chemical free (or at least less chemical) lifestyle.

I pinned this today and before I opened it, I knew it was you! It’s just too good.
Windex smells scary to me but I love what it does.
I’m all about trying this.

Stopping by from The Seasoned Mama. I’m interested to know why the olive oil? That part baffles me…

Hi Sarah, glad you stopped in. That’s a great question! It just gives it a little more of a shine. 🙂

Could you use half tea tree oil and half lemon? Or 60/40 ratio or something?
Jennifer says
I have never tried that before, but if you try it let me know how it works!

Use newspaper to wipe your windows & mirrors. They work better than anything I’ve ever used & you’re repurposing old newspapers. Win-win!
