Hi PinkWhen Friends!
It’s Dee from Meatloaf and Melodrama, and I’m back again this month with a very easy Halloween craft. When it comes to Halloween decorating, I prefer to keep things on the cute side, and I like to use a mix of colors so that my house doesn’t look too orange. I’m also on a bit of a chalkboard kick lately, so I made this cute DIY Chalkboard BOO garland to hang over the mantel.
DIY Chalkboard Boo Garland
This garland is very easy to put together, and best of all, no special tools are required! You’ll need:
- Printed card stock (I used a black and silver glitter pattern.)
- Decorative chalkboard labels
- Black and white twine
- Purple mini clothespins
- Scissors
- Chalk
- Plain and printed ribbon
How to Make Chalkboard Garland
Start by cutting the cardstock into rectangles that are large enough to frame the chalkboard labels. You’ll need three rectangles for this project. I bought a book of cardstock that has 4 X 6-inch sheets, and I just cut the sheets in half. I liked this particular pattern because I used the stripes as a guide for cutting the paper.
It also has just a touch of sparkle, which adds a hint of elegance to the garland.
Then, select the labels you want to use, and stick each of them onto a rectangle.

Next, cut the twine to the length you need, and use the mini clothespins to attach the cardstock to the twine. I used white chalk to write the word BOO on the chalkboard labels, but you could use whatever color you prefer. Then, tie the ribbons on either side of the word. I love the ghost ribbon, and I just couldn’t pass it up!
That’s all it takes to make this Halloween DIY Chalkboard Boo garland. You can hang it from your mantel, a shelf or anywhere you like!
