Today I am going to share with you a fun and sticky craft. I say sticky because I am always covered in something, but these will be fun to make for anyone. This DIY Glitter and Gold Christmas Tree Decor was such a fun and easy craft. I love how quick they were to put together, and they look great with my holiday decor. Check out simple these were to make!
DIY Glitter and Gold Christmas Tree Decor
To get started you are going to need a few items from your local craft store:
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Cones (18″, 12″, 9″)
- Mod Podge
- Glittery Silver and Gold Ornament Flakes
- Foam Applicator Brush
- a good vacuum…..(or a broom – just make sure you have this on hand!)
The first thing to do is gather up all of your supplies and find a great spot to work, like a garage. I have a shop vac outside because of everything else I get into, so I decided to make these trees outside in my little work area.
Take your unwrapped cones and start applying a very thick layer of Mod Podge. I literally dipped my sponge brush and applied it like a spoon to the tree. Just cover it all very well, but try not to get any on the bottom of the tree. (You don’t want it to stick to your work station.)
After you have applied the Mod Podge grab the bag of ornament flakes and get ready to get messy.
I poured flakes onto my work area and then rolled the cones all around. I then just kept adding the flakes all over. It was a quick and easy process! It’s also the messy part, but sometimes messy can be fun.
After I had all of the cones finished I let them sit and dry for a while before transferring them inside to my table. Grab the vacuum for super quick clean up! Then it’s time to put them all on display.
I really love how it works with my current holiday items, and they were so quick and fun to make.

These are just beautiful! I’ve not seen gold flakes before — where did you buy them? Thank you.

I picked them up at Michael’s in the “craft your ornament” section. They are fun to play with, my daughter is actually making ornaments with the gold flakes right now!
