I am looking forward to summer, and the kids are all excited about being outside and playing in the water. I remember when I was younger I spent the majority of my life out side in the swimming pool. I never wanted to be in doors! I also had fun playing with my water toys. Several other bloggers and myself are going to be sharing some quick and fun crafts this week. For my craft, I am sharing a DIY Toy Boat.
Once of the funnest things about playing in the swimming pool is all of the fun toys. You have rings, balls, water guns, and this list can just go on and on. You can even easily make these fun toy boats and bring them along with you. They don’t take a lot of time to make, and they are really fun for the kids to have races with.
DIY Toy Boat – Quick Fun Crafts
For this project you will only need a few things on hand:
- craft foam
- drinking straw
- duct tape
This is such a fun summer project, and one that won’t take a long time to put together. Let’s get started!
First you will want to decide what size boat you want to make and create the base. (You can go to the craft store and find tons of different shapes and sizes of foam.)
After you have the base you will need to create the sail. Take a sheet of duct tape fold it over.
Then cut it into a triangular shape. I also cut another small piece of tape to create a smaller top sail.
Next you want to attach the sail to the straw. Just peel off the backing and fold over the straw.
After you have the sails attached, carefully insert the straw into the base of the boat.
I then took some decorative tape and wrapped it around the base.
You now have a DIY floating Toy Boat. These are such fun and easy quick crafts. You can make so many different boats and have fun water races the next time you go to the pool.
I hope you enjoyed this craft. It’s part of Craft Lightning! Find other fun quick crafts to do this Summer, all that will take under 15 minutes to make.
Love this Jenn! Filing this away for things to do with my son.
I have a few more to make for some swimming pool fun this summer!
