This week I am back with my wonderful friends to share with you some fun and simple Fall Decorating Ideas. While we had our Holiday Extravaganza last month for Halloween Ideas, you are going to be able to see ideas weekly from each of us. This will run all the way through Christmas!
This week you can also find ideas from Kimber at The Pinning Mama, Therese at Fresh Idea Studio, Kim and Chloe from PopCosmo, and Amy from Sews N Bows. Make sure when you leave here you head over and see what they are up to! You can find pictures and a link to each post at the end of this post.
Fall Decorating Ideas
Let’s get started with my first of four Fall Decorating Ideas. Today I am sharing with you my Fall Sign. Here is a quick list of what you will need for this project:
- Vinyl Cutting Machine (OR stencils to cut out leaves and letters)
- 4 Small sized Canvas
- Gold Spray Paint
- Fall Colored Cardstock
The first thing you will want to do is take your 4 canvas and stack them on top of one another. I did this stacked because I did not want a coat of paint on the front. You can paint them completely, but I was fine with just painting the edges. Allow to dry per directions.
While your canvas is drying, start working on your letters and leaves. With a Silhouette, this was super simple. All I had to do was load up the leaves and letters I wanted to use and then cut them out. If you do not have a Silhouette Vinyl cutting machine, you can still do this, it will just take a bit longer. You can create a stencil with your printer and paper and then carefully cut out the center letters and leaves to use them stencils to trace onto your patterned paper. You could also check the local craft stores and see if they already have these stencils available, which they probably do!
I wan’t quite sure exactly how I wanted to use the leaves, but I wanted to make sure I had enough cut out in the shapes I needed. Needless to say, I have a ton of pretty leaves leftover that I am sure I can find SOMETHING to do with.
After you have everything cut out, take your ModPodge and place a layer onto your canvas. Place your patterned paper (cut to fit) onto the canvas. Allow to dry. Then place an additional coat over your patterned paper, sealing it to the canvas.
While this is still a bit tacky, go ahead and start adding your letters and leaves in place where you would like them. Once your canvas is fully dried, apply another coat of ModPodge over the entire canvas.
Once those are dry, you can keep them together like this to make a sign…
Or, after they are dry, attach your twine and hang it up!
Either way, I think it turned our really well! A quick project that didn’t take too long at all.
I hope you enjoyed this Fall Decorating Idea, now check out the Fall Projects below and see what everyone has to show off!
