A couple of days ago I did a Periscope video (are you following me? I’m @PinkWhen on Periscope.) and decided that I should also make this a post. I’ve saved the video and uploaded it to YouTube if you want to watch a recorded LIVE version. Or, if you like peace and quiet when checking something out, this post will have all of that same information. It’s a quick little 12 minute video of how I doubled my Pinterest following in just 6 months.
This Persicope video that I did was originally titled “How I grow my Pinterest following by 100+ followers a day”, but when I was working on my Media Kit (that I had not really touched since March), I realized my old Media Kit March Pinterest stats were at 18,100 followers. As of today, I have 36,216. So, I changed it up to how I doubled my Pinterest following in just 6 months. (That just SOUNDS better to me, what about you?)
Pinterest (as well as all of our other social media channels) have gone through a TON of changes. It’s hard to stay relevant in such a fast changing environment, and if you are not on top of your game you may end up out of the game. (Fast forward to 10 years from now where that will probably be me….but until then, I am still kicking.)
So, if you are a regular reader here and you came today for crafts or recipes, I apologize for wandering off of the path. However, if you are on Pinterest, you may be interested in learning this as well.
To get started, I use two different platforms for Pinterest. I use BoardBooster and Tailwind. For Tailwind I am signed up for the Tailwind Plus – Advanced. (If you are interested in Tailwind Plus, let me know and I can get a $15 credit sent to you so you can try it out for free for a month! Just leave a comment below and I will send you an email.) Now let me share with you exactly how I use these two programs together and grow.
Let me leave a disclaimer: Just because this worked for me doesn’t mean it will work for you. But seriously, if it worked for ME, it HAS to work for you. No secrets, I’m baring it all with you. OK, let’s get started.
FIRST: Here is a snapshot of my Tailwind stats. As you can see, I average a little over 100+ followers a day. With all of the changes we have gone through in social media, that’s a really good stat to have.
I am not going into Tailwind much today because I have a future Periscope video I am going to share next week, and I will go into more detail when that is finished. So for now, that is about the only Tailwind thing I am going to share, besides the fact that I use Tailwind to schedule all of my PINS for my posts throughout all of my group boards. When that link goes live and I save it to YouTube, I will come back here and share the link.
For BoardBooster I have a ton of uses. It has really helped with the way that I work on Pinterest and is a huge help in growing my followers. I use it in several different ways:
First, I use BoardBooster to take care of maintain my group boards. I can click on any of my OWNED group boards and see who is pinning, how much they are pinning, how well their pins do, and if they are pinning the same things over and over. It shows me who my best contributors are, and who really uses the board to the best of it’s ability.
The other thing I use the Groups for is the cleanup. I have a time set up once per week that will go through my group boards and delete all of the pins that have fewer than 5 repins on it. If they are not performing, I remove them from the boards. (I also spend time – when I have extra time that is – cleaning up all of the pins I am pinning everywhere. If they are not performing, I delete them.)
How I DOUBLED My Pinterest Following in 6 Months
The second thing I use BoardBooster for is to create campaigns. The main campaign I have is for my best performing personal board, EAT: YUMMY RECIPES. This board has some of my pins, but it also has other amazing content I have found around the web. I have a campaign set up (see below) where I take 8 of those pins a day and pin to 4 of my best performing group boards.
The third thing I do with BoardBooster is something called LOOPING. I can change this up, but basically I take PINS from my seasonal boards (things about to trend) and start having those repin to that same seasonal board. This helps me out by repinning some awesome seasonal content (again, both mine and other pins on my personal boards I have added) that will soon start trending.
The fourth thing I use BoardBooster for is Board Performance reports. (See below)
I can look at my board performance reports and see which boards are my best performing boards, what the average repin rate is I get, as well as how many pins I have added to those boards. As you can see from the report, I take my best pins and pin to those best performing boards. Either natively through Tailwind or from a campaign I have set up with BoardBooster.
How I DOUBLED my Pinterest following in 6 MONTHS!
This isn’t my ENTIRE Pinterest campaign. Like I mentioned above, I also use Tailwind for all of my posts as well. That’s another long story, and since I am nearing the 1000 word count, I thought I would cut this one short. I will, however, come back and link to that post once it is up and share with you my tips and ideas on how and why I do that as well. Until then….are you following me on Pinterest????
