Today I am going to share with you one of my first Christmas projects of the year, and it has actually been finished for a long time! It’s my JOY Subway Art Sign.
Over the summer I was asked to participate in this wonderful Holiday Campaign, a chance to be in the annual Southern Holiday Life magazine. Well that magazine is published, and I can finally share with you my post that I shared with Southern Holiday Life!
It’s been one special year for me, being able to co-author a book with some amazing bloggers, and then be asked to participate in this project as well! I have been pinching myself over and over, and I finally get to share it with YOU.
JOY Subway Art Sign
To make this project you will need a board for your specific sized sign. My board is 8 inches wide and 2 feet in length.
- white base paint
- clear weathered crackle medium
- red paint
- white vinyl lettering
Step 1: Prime, Sand, and Paint your board white. Allow to dry overnight.
Step 2: Apply your crackle medium generously using as few strokes during application as possible. Allow to dry overnight.
Step 3: Apply your red paint generously, using as few strokes as possible, and you should start seeing your crackle effect immediately. Allow to dry overnight.
Step 4: Cut out and place your JOY vinyl over your paint.
After you have finished with this step, you are finished! It’s a simple project that hardly takes any time at all, but you do have to wait a while for your layers of paint to dry. It’s such a beautiful and simple piece of art to display over the Holiday Season!
Starting today, you can purchase the online version of Southern Holiday Life and see all of the other wonderful projects that were featured in this annual magazine.
I hope you liked my project, the Joy Subway Art Sign, and make sure to check out the other awesome projects as well!
