This Leprechaun Hat Pot O’ Gold is the perfect centerpiece for a party at school or just because. This was such a fun and relatively easy project to make!
It super simple and super cute. Check out how easy this Leprechaun Hat centerpiece is, and you only need a few supplies. It’s perfect for a children’s St. Patrick’s Day party at school, Sunday school, or just because!
What do I need to make a Leprechaun Hat Pot O’ Gold
- (2) FloraCraft®Make It: Fun® Cake Forms (10 x 20cm) for top
- (1) FloraCraft®Make It: Fun® Cake Form (10 x 30cm) for base
- green construction paper
- (2) 12 x 12 green glitter cardstock
- FloraCraft® StyroCutter®
- Chocolate Gold coins
How do I make a Leprechaun Hat?
Step 1: Measure the width of the cake forms and cut the green construction paper in long lengths. Once you have all of your pieces cut, set them off to the side.
Step 2: Take one of the 10 x 20 cake forms and with the FloraCraft®StyroCutter® or other foam cutting tool cut a large circle out of the center.
Step 3: Using the base of the cake forms, trace the diameter of the cake forms on the green glitter cardstock. One for the top you just cut, and one for the larger base piece.
Step 4: Attach the glitter green cardstock to the top of the base and also to the top hat opening.
Step 5: Take the green sheets of construction paper that you cut and wrap them around the cake forms.
I then cut a larger piece to fit around the two top cake forms and attached those altogether by using toothpicks. This will help keep everything in place.
Step 6: Decorate with a little lucky charm and then fill the top with chocolate Gold Coin candy.
This will be such a fun party centerpiece for school or home! I love how easy it was to make and how cute it turned out.

OMGosh!!! I’ve been looking for something unique for a cupcake display for my upcoming wedding (3/14/15) and you’ve just given me the perfect thing!!! Gonna adapt this idea so that the brim is larger (at least I hope I will) and won’t be cutting out the center of the top part, but this is perfect for our St. Patrick’s Day themed wedding!!! Thank you for sharing!!!

OMGoodness!!! You just supplied a perfect answer to the problem I’ve been trying to solve for the past 3 months!!! I’ve been trying to decide on a unique display method for cupcakes at my St. Patrick’s Day themed wedding on 3/14/15!!! This is the perfect answer!!!! I’ll be using a slightly larger brim piece (if available) and not cutting out the bowl for the top, but this is AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I absolutely love it, and I love St. Patrick’s Day too. Not Irish even a little, but I love the spirit and I love the time of year – near spring.
Where can you get chocolate coins this time of year? Usually I get them at Trader Joe’s for Hanukkah gelt but that’s only during the holiday season!
Jennifer says
I picked these chocolate gold coins at the checkout counter at Hobby Lobby. 🙂

Tamara, with the holiday coming up you should start seeing the chocolate coins in more locations. I have seen them at my area Dollar Tree. You can also find them via oriental trading company and/or other party stores online. Will probably be available at the brick and mortar party stores too.
