My little 6 year old niece is such a fun loving precocious girl. She is seriously smart and can have a hard time turning her brain off at night. Her mom, my sister in law, was online not long ago and found a lavender scented linen spray. She ordered it to help my niece relax just before bedtime and found that it really helped. Unfortunately that company is no longer making the linen spray and she is quickly running out. That’s why I am here today to share with you a quick tutorial for Sweet Dreams Linen Spray.
Before I got started making the linen spray, I had my sister in law come over and bring the little container her linen spray was in. We wanted to make this homemade version smell as close to the original as possible. After a few minutes of smelling different scents, we finally decided on the combination of Lavender, Angelica, and Bergamot essential oils.
Sweet Dreams Linen Spray
To make this linen spray you will need just a few basic supplies you probably already have on hand. Just in case you don’t, I am going to share affiliate links so you can grab your supplies online.
- Glass Spray Bottle(I use glass so that the oils don’t seep into the plastic and possibly react, but that is mostly with citrus oils. I just keep these on hand!)
- 3 Tbsp distilled white vinegar
- 1/2 cup isopropyl alcohol
- 25 drops Lavender
- 10 drops Angelica
- 10 drops Bergamot
- 2 cups Water
How to make a homemade scented linen spray
Step 1: Take the glass spray bottle and remove the spray nozzle. Use a funnel or just carefully pour the water and alcohol into the bottle.
Step 2: Add in the vinegar, which cleans and refreshes.
Step 3: Finally, add in the Lavender, Angelica and Bergamot essential oil. Make sure to mix well before using.
I decided to add a cute little label so that it inspires her to go to sleep and dream away all of the days excitement and fun. I just grabbed my Silhouette machine and created a fun label on white sticker paper.
(*post edit* A lot of people have expressed interest in using this label so I made it a downloadable file. Please note this is for personal use only and not for commercial use. You can download the Sweet Dreams Linen Spray label here.)
This was so easy to make, and a fun little gift to be able to make for my niece. I can’t wait to hear about her sweet dreams and what she thinks about her new Sweet Dreams Linen Spray.
The oils do like to sit on top of the mixture, so just remember to shake before you spray. You will only use one or two sprays at bedtime, so this will last a really long time. I just spray it directly on top of my daughters comforter. It smells so good that I even made a second batch of Sweet Dreams Linen Spray for our family. I could so use some of this! Making it very soon!

Watch out! Once you make it, you have to remember to spray it every night. It never fails that my toddler will come out 10 minutes after bed time and scold me because I forgot to give her Sweet Dreams. It’s really cute actually 🙂

Curious… why so much alcohol?
Jennifer says
It helps things dry a bit faster 🙂

This is such a cute idea! A few questions though. Can it be used to spray the room instead of the linen? If I spray the linens will it stain?
Jennifer says
I have been spraying it on our linens in both the child’s room (the one in the pictures – very colorful) and my room (which is solid white comforter and sheets), and have not had any issues. I only spray a few sprays and not more than 3 or four, so they are never “wet”. I have not had any issues at all, and the spray itself is clear. You can spray the room, and I do that as well. In fact….when I forget, I get reminded by the toddler that I forgot her “Sweet Dreams”. 🙂

I have not used this type of thing before… Do have difficulty with sleep with my kids at times.
What does the oil do to the sheets? Leave any marks?
Thanks for what looks like a great help! 🙂
Jennifer says
The oil does not leave any marks at all on the sheets. I have it where it sprays a cloud, and the alcohol helps it dry faster. 🙂

Would love the label too!

Where do you get your glass spray bottles?
Jennifer says
If you look back at the post and the list of instructions, where I have the Glass Bottles (and it’s underlined in blue) it will take you to the shop on Amazon where I purchased my bottles. It’s a direct link to the bottles I use in my posts. 🙂
