Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1 ounce envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 10.75 ounce cans condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1 1 ounce packet dry au jus mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano flakes
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp thyme

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion soup mix, pepper, oregano, thyme, Italian seasoning, bread crumbs, and milk using your hands. Shape into 6-8 patties. (I like them a little big, so I make 6.)
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cover the steak patties in flour just to coat, and then place them into the heated skillet to quickly brown on both sides.
  • Place browned patties into the slow cooker stacking alternately. They will stack on top of each other, so place them as evenly as possible.
  • In a medium sized bowl, mix together the cream of chicken soup, au jus mix, and water and then pour evenly over the patties. Cook on the Low setting for 4 or 5 hours, or High setting for 2-3 hours until ground beef is well done.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, salad, and rolls.
