Cheeseburger Pie

This Cheeseburger Pie recipe really tastes just like a cheeseburger!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup  chopped white onions 
  • 2 tbsp granulated garlic powder
  • 1 tsp red pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper 
  • 1/2 tsp oregano 
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese 
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterrey Jack 
  • 1 cup milk 
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup Bisquick baking mix 
  • **Green onion tops for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Add the lean ground beef and chopped onion to a medium sized skillet. Brown the beef and onions until fully cooked.
  • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  •  Prepare a 9” deep dish round pie dish with non stick cooking spray.
  • Add the seasonings to the skillet and combine with the beef mixture.
  • Pour the beef mixture into the prepared pie dish.

  • Mix the Monterrey jack and the cheddar cheese together.
  • Top the beef mixture in the pie dish with 3/4 cup of the cheese.

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the bisquick mix, milk, and eggs.
  • Add the remaining cheese to the bisquick mixture.
  • Pour the bisquick mixture evenly over the beef and cheese mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the center of the pie is set and the top is golden brown. A toothpick should come out clean from the center of the pie.
  • Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cook and set fully for 2-3 minutes.
  • Top with green onions (optional)

Notes

You can add any toppings that you'd want to have on your cheeseburger. Dill pickles could be fun as could diced jalapeños. There are so many ways that you can easily change up the flavor and taste.
Check the pie for doneness with a toothpick inserted into the middle. When it comes out clean, the pie is ready to remove from the oven. Then cool and serve.
