  • 1 boxed cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

  • Make the cake mix, per the instructions on the package.
  • Using non-stick (or olive oil spray) cooking spray, spray an air fryer safe pan. Pour the cake batter into the cake pan.
  • Place the air fryer safe pan with the cake batter inside of the air fryer basket and bake at 320 degrees F for 20 minutes.
  • Use a toothpick to check the center of the cake to check If the cake is done. If it is not done, add another 5 minutes of cooking time and lower the temp to 300 degrees Fahrenheit so that the cake will finish cooking without browning the top of the cake any further.
  • Allow the cake to cool on a wire cooling rack.
  • Remove the cake from the pan, and then use a knife to remove the rounded top from the cake.
  • Use a spatula to add frosting to the cake.
  • Serve.

Do you need to use a special cake pan for the air fryer?
You do not need a special air fryer cake pan to make this recipe. The pan size will depend on the size of your air fryer. You can use any cake pan or Springform pan you would use in a conventional oven in the air fryer as long as it fits your air fryer basket or shelves.
Can I add different ingredients to the box cake mix?
Yes! You can add chocolate chips, pecan pieces, walnuts, or even freeze-dried fruits.
How do you store the air fryer cake?
Store the leftover cake by covering it in plastic wrap or placing it into an airtight container. Store the cake at room temperature for up to 3 days.
