You will love these easy hearty cowboy baked beans. Loaded with ground beef, bacon, and a sweet and savory sauce, they are the ultimate potluck side dish.
9x13-inch baking dish (or large oven-proof skillet)
Ingredients
6slicesthick-cut baconchopped
1lb.lean ground beef
1small yellow onionfinely chopped
2cans baked beans28-ounce cans, do not drain
3/4cupbarbecue sauce
1/4cuppacked brown sugar
1tablespoonyellow mustard
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish, unless you're going to bake in an oven-proof skillet.
In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Transfer bacon to a plate using a slotted spoon. Pour out all but 1 tablespoon of the fat from the skillet.
Add ground beef and diced onion to the skillet. Cook until meat is browned and onion is tender. Drain off excess fat.
Return the cooked bacon to the skillet with the ground beef and onion. Add baked beans, barbecue sauce, brown sugar and yellow mustard to the skillet. Mix well.
Pour into a prepared 9x13-inch baking dish (or skillet).
Bake, uncovered, 45 minutes, or until sauce is thick and bubbly at the edges.
Allow to stand 10 minutes before serving.
