Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe

  • 3 medium ripe bananas divided
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts


  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Spray 9 x 5 dish with non stick cooking spray
  • Mash 2 bananas in a bowl, and thinly slice the third, leaving it to the side.
  • Stir together the butter and sugar in a large bowl.
  • Mix in the eggs and vanilla and stir until smooth.
  • Add the sour cream, mashed bananas, baking soda and salt, and stir until blended.
  • Mix in the flour until blended well.
  • Fold in chocolate chips, walnuts, and sliced banana
  • Pour into a pan (or make mini loaves and reduce the baking time accordingly)
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let sit for 15 minutes, remove from pan, and then cool on a wire rack.
