How to Make Faux Chalkboard Labels

While I have been making my daughters desk, and decorating it a bit, I have been thinking about all of the things I would like to add to her desk to make it more manageable and also save her some room.

One of the coolest things I have seen is a chalk marker set from my local craft store. It is a wet erasble chalk-like marker. How about that for a little less dust in the house? Ha! Seriously. I could not pass these up when I saw them and had the perfect idea for them.
These are opaque and can be used on windshields, dry erase boards, windows, mirrors, and of course, chalk boards! Not only do they easily come off with a little damp cloth, but they can also be used on vinyl, which is what I am going to use them on.I technically could create a stencil with my Silhouette machine and use chalkboard paint, but it’s hot over here and I am lazy, and this is WAY easier. Besides, I have been painting a lot lately, and I really wanted a short cut, and this is an easy short cut with the faux chalkboard labels! The first thing I am going to do is create my labels in my Silhouette and then cut out my labels. You can also hand cut your labels, and I have a free printable here you can download and use.  However, if you have a Silhouette I would use it for the clean lines.

I picked up these Ball jars at my local craft store and desided to use a few for her desk storage. She can store all of her pens, pencils, and markers in these jars and easily save a ton of room.

Avery does have a few things with the Chevron print, like this, and this. She loves the print, so I decided to add a little more to her life by decorating her storage jars with a Chevron print paper.

Once her jars were covered, I added the labels and decorated with the new chalk marker set.

So much easier than making chalkboard paint, or waiting for it to dry! (And I have done that!)
