How to Make Paper Mache Witch Hats
I am so excited to be a part of the Halloween Project Parade! Ten bloggers, including myself, have created an awesome parade for great craft ideas to use this Halloween. For my craft, I am sharing with you my Embellished Paper Mache Witch Hats.
For this project you will need a few supplies:
- paper mache witch hats (~$3 at local craft stores)
- craft paper
- white paint
- white tulle
- green and yellow craft paint
Embellished Paper Mache Witch Hats
First you want to take your paper mache hats and place them on a crafting surface. (That happens to be an old comforter on my garage floor.) Give each hat a good coat of white paint, and then allow to dry.
Once your paint has dried, take your round sponge brushes, green paint, yellow paint, and start making your desired pattern.
After the hats are completely dry, add any other embellishments you would like to your hat. I created a fun ruffled top with craft paper, then topped it off with some white tulle. I attached some tags, but just thought I needed to add something else.
I then created a couple of Trick and Treat tags with my printer, cut them out, and attached them to the hats.
I like the labeling of the tags better than just plain. These are super cute, fun, and very easy to make. It’s a great beginner craft that can be done with toddlers and up.
I hope you enjoyed my Embellished Paper Mache Witch Hats.

I sent this link to my mom! She’s an art teacher and owns her own art school and always loves new fall ideas.
Awesome!! This will be so much fun, and the hats are only $3 each. She could always save more and make them out of thick cardstock, too!
