Trick or Treat! It’s about time to think of what we are going to be decorating, dressing up with, and showering our kids with this upcoming season. I am so excited to show with you a few nifty little Halloween Ideas that some of my blogging friends and I have come together to share. Together, we are going to do a series of ideas over the next few months to help share some craftiness on what you can do this upcoming holiday season – Halloween, as well as Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
To get things started, I am going to share with you one of my Halloween Crafts for the upcoming Trick or Treat fest!
Halloween Buckets
First we need to gather all of your supplies:
- Dynamic KK000MPP Metal Paint Pail with Handle, 2.5-Quart
- spray paint
- vinyl cutting machine ( to make your Halloween cut outs)
- painters tape
I picked these buckets up at the local hardware store. I would recommend going in and checking out all of the sizes and weight. You don’t want to order buckets and end up with something incredibly heavy. Besides, imagine how heavy it will be after all of the candy is piled in there? If you can’t find them in store, the supply list has the exact bucket I used.
Next you want to choose your base color. As you can see above, I have a black bucket and a white bucket I painted. Take your painters tape and cover the handle if you do not want it painted. Then apply a generous coat of paint to each bucket. Make sure you shake your spray can well before, and that you are in a well ventilated area. Another trick is to make sure you don’t get the spray nozzle closer than 12 inches or you could end up with runs on the metal. Allow to dry over night.
Once your buckets are dry and ready, it’s time to decide on your designs and colors. I used several different vinyl colors and layered them with files I downloaded from the Silhouette store.
Use your imagination, and check out the latest from around the web. I found a few cute designs off of Etsy that I decided to try and recreate.
Just let your imagination run and create something cute and fun and get ready to enjoy all of the holidays that are right around the corner!
I hope you enjoyed these Halloween Ideas that I shared with you today. If you are looking for a Silhouette Vinyl cutting machine, click this link, there is a promotion running until the 13th and you can SAVE! Make sure to use promo code PINK when checking out.

Haha! Well my oldest is almost 13 and she still wanted a bucket. 🙂 She will probably just keep it in her room to put pens and pencils in, or trash! Who knows…

I LOVE those witches legs. And your 13 y.o. is too old to trick or treat? She needs to come here… We need to check the ID of the “kids” who trick or treat in our neighborhood. You are never too old for candy though 🙂 haha!
Jennifer says
Oh she goes, and she usually has a group of friends, too! They are all “grandfathered” in because of the little one. 🙂

Until yesterday, I would have thought the idea of me painting ANYTHING is nutty. However I was making up work hours for the preschool and I had to paint letters on the school playhouse without small paintbrushes! Now everyone seems to think I’m some kind of artist. I’m not! However this looks very fun.
Jennifer says
Thanks Tamara!! I had a lot of fun making these 🙂

These are very cute! Love them as an alternative to a bag of candy. I don’t have a vinyl cutting machine, is the vinyl removable so you could use the bucket for other things, or it’s pretty permanent? I’m visiting from the Brag About It link party.

Hi Christy! Thanks for visiting. The vinyl is removable, so you can use the bucket for something else if you want. Love how you can change things up so easily by decorating with vinyl.
