But now that I have discovered that I can make that same flavor and taste in my own kitchen with this Copycat Chick Fil A Chicken Sandwich recipe, it’s a whole new world that just unfolded before my eyes. This simple sandwich recipe is LEGIT. And tastes just like the real deal!

It’s not that I don’t like going out to eat. I do, I really do. But when I can nail that taste and flavor at a fraction of the cost without having to leave the house, it’s just too tempting to pass up.
Sure, I could go to Chick Fil A in my pajamas and eat their sandwich if I wanted to…but I feel a lot less judgment making this sandwich at home and not worrying about what I’m wearing or what my hair looks like.
My family tends to agree with me on this one as well which is why we’ve made it like a zillion times over the past few months! (and it still is one of our favorite copycat recipes to make!)
COPYCAT CHICK FIL A SANDWICH RECIPE
What I love about this recipe is that it’s legit just like the sandwich that you’d buy at Chick Fil A – pickle juice and all! This recipe leaves nothing out and comes with all that taste and flavor.
And since this simple sandwich recipe makes up a meal for you, you’re going to love the ease of making it up and getting it done. When I make this simple recipe at home, the kids come running once they smell that pickle juice!
INGREDIENTS YOU NEED
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 chicken breasts (pounded and cut in two)
- 1 cup flour (all-purpose)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain)
- 1/2 cup pickle juice
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/4 tsp chili powder
- 3 inches peanut oil
- lettuce leaves
- brioche buns
- pickles for garnish if desired

COPYCAT Chick Fil A Chicken Sandwich
Presoak the chicken breasts in pickle juice.
Place chicken breasts into a sealable bag and pound the chicken breasts to about 1/2 inch thickness. Then cut the chicken breasts in half to make 4 sandwiches.
Whisk together milk and eggs in a bowl and place the chicken breasts into the milk mixture and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
Mix the breadcrumbs, flour, and remaining seasonings on a dish.
Remove the chicken breasts and coat them completely in the flour mixture.
Heat the oil on medium-high heat. Place the chicken breasts into the heated oil and fry them for 5-7 minutes or until fully cooked and golden brown on the outside.
Serve on brioche buns with lettuce and pickle slices.

Why is the chicken soaked in pickle juice?
Besides being their “thing”, pickle juice is actually a great way to get salt into the chicken which can then, in turn, help to tenderize it as well. Many people feel that this is truly what makes Chick Fil A’s chicken stand out far above the rest.
What should the internal temperature for chicken be to be considered cooked?
In order for your chicken to be safe to eat, it needs to have an internal temperature of at least 165 degrees. Using a meat thermometer to be certain before eating. Here is a great guide from the FDA that you can download with the recommended temperature for all meats, including seafood!

Notes
- Soak the chicken breasts in pickle juice and then soak in the milk and egg mixture up to a day before making.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Leave out the pickle juice if you don’t like the flavor! The longer you soak the chicken in the juice, the stronger the flavor will be. Consider soaking it for a smaller amount of time if you like the flavor but want to decrease the amount.
