Hello PinkWhen readers! I’m Bethany from Whistle and Ivy. Today I am sharing a free crochet pattern, this diagonal hatch slouchy hat. I have always been big into hats; not really baseball hats or brimmed hats, but mostly warm beanies (which I only get to wear a few months out of the year).
Although we have been experiencing “beanie weather” for a few weeks, I can’t help but get excited every year and write a couple new hat patterns. This one is so cute and warm! It works up very quickly, too, which is one of my favorite ways to write a pattern. Plus, it has a unique texture with the diagonal hatch.
Don’t you just love pom-poms!? I am clearly no expert, as my poor pom-pom had a bit of a “hack job haircut.” Oh well. I’ll call it “rustic!”.

So cute! Beanies are my favorite, on people of all ages.
I do like this hat pattern. I will make more than one of them using different colors of yarn. Thank you for sharing
Love the pattern, but mine came out nothing like that! I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong, but the body of the hat seems to be getting bigger.
Does the body of the hat appear “wavy” until you finish the hat? I’ve done 6 rows so far and it doesn’t look like the picture
I just found where to get the pattern, I overlooked it when I first saw the hat pattern.
mine turned out wavy. I don’t know if I did something wrong… I was following the pattern..
The ribbing is 58 rows but first row of hat body is about 88 stitches making the body very full & wavy, is the 88 sc in first row of body correct?
