I am always looking for different ideas for Healthy Sandwiches, and today I am going to share one of my all time favorite lunches. The Turkey Melt.
I have to admit, I can sometimes eat unhealthy, but eating healthy should be a top priority for us all. I spoke with a physician friend of mine not too long ago and he equated our bodies to a car. Yep, a CAR. Why a car?
Think about it. We treat our cars better than we do our bodies. If you want to keep your car running well, you put in a premium gasoline. You don’t just put anything in it. Our bodies are the same, we should always put in the premium products…not a bunch of crap….and that is easy to do. While you also change out your air filter and oil filter, your body only has one filter: your liver. You can’t just change that out….so you need to make that filter work well for you by making it easy, and making what you intake HEALTHY.
I promise I am not perfect, did you see my Key Lime Pie Recipe from yesterday? Ha! These things are ok in moderation. To offset that sweet pie, I am sharing with you my favorite Turkey Melt recipe.
Healthy Sandwiches
- Turkey
- spinach leaves
- avocado
- provolone cheese
- tomato
- wheat kaiser roll
Heat your oven to 350. Slice your tomato and kaiser roll and set these aside. Take your bottom half the kaiser roll and layer your turkey and then top with provolone cheese. Bake in the oven for 4 minutes, until cheese is slightly melted, then pull.
Top the turkey and cheese with a half of avocado, sliced tomato, spinach leaves, add a little pepper if desired, and then top with your remaining roll.
Serve with some gluten free sweet potato chips and enjoy!
Here is a recipe card so you can easily print this out and give it a try…you will LOVE it:

It’s a sandwich that is packed full of yummy goodness. What are some of your favorite healthy sandwiches you make?
Did I see your recipe from yesterday? Yes, yes I did…and I have printed it and have it ready so I can buy all of the ingredients this weekend at the grocery.
Moderation…well, okay. If you insist. I think I’ll just have the Turkey Melt *before* my pie! Easy peasy!! –Lisa
Haha! The Key Lime Pie is pretty amazing….but this Turkey Melt is awesome all by itself!
My all time favorite lunch – a turkey sandwich, a pickle, and some chips. Chips in moderation, of course!
Chips in moderation if they are not good for you, all the chips you can eat if they are good for you!! 😉
yum! I think I would love this… I could eat an avocado every day if they stayed in season! I am definitely going to try this… I am always looking for new ways to spice up lunch!
I found your blog on Top Mommy Blogs! I can’t wait to catch up on your archives (especially your herb garden!). I’m new to blogging, but I’ve posted a few DIY projects you might like. Check them out at http://www.highheels2hiddentoys.com
