I have to give you another disclosure before you go any further….don’t judge that my daughters room was so completely disastrous in the “before” pictures. I was REALLY bad at organizing her small little space, and she was really good at destroying it quickly. I have that ALL taken care of now. In fact, I have incorporated a little system that I love in this post on Toddler Room Organization. Not only that, but there is a giveaway going on as part of the January National Get Organized month that you don’t want to miss out on, so keep reading!
Toddler Room Organization Ideas
Here is the thing, Addy’s room is not your regular room. We had a 3 bedroom house with an office when we got pregnant with Addy. Her room in a converted office that does not have a closet. She has no “extra space” so we have to get creative with her space. (WARNING: The next picture may give you heart palpitations.)
I obviously was NOT doing a great job. I purchased this HUGE storage bin to contain all of her toys but it was NOT a great idea in hindsight. Mostly because the bin was so big she could never find any of her toys, so she just left them out and left them everywhere. I would clean and she would “destroy”. I had to think of a better solution. With limited storage space I needed a better plan. I did this with a simple 2 step process.
Toddler Room Organization Ideas
Step 1: To take care of the toy situation (which was the MAIN problem) I decided to get storage bins that were stackable and had sliding drawers. This would not only organize her toys, but it is an easier way to help teach her to keep her toys organized.
Step 2: To help teach organization I also used the Brother P-Touch Label Maker. Each of the drawers above are labeled with which toys should belong in each drawer. It was super easy to use, and Addy is learning how to recognize words every day, so I thought this would help her.
Using the Brother P Touch label maker is super simple, and a really nice item to have when organizing. You can use it for so many different things, and it’s so small that’s it’s easily stored without taking up much space. Don’t you love the diversity of labels I had to make for her toys? She is your typical toddler.
This also allowed me to remove some of the toys from her kitchen and vanity into the bins. I love it because she is less cluttered and so much more organized.
For such a small space, I think we have her room well organized now. She’s learning how to use her storage bins and has been doing well at putting her toys back into the correct labeled bin.
Brother is giving away a Brother P Touch label make every day in the month of January as well as a Grand Prize pack worth up to $2000. Go here to enter and find out more.
Sometimes all it takes are a few simple adjustments to make things a little more organized. What are some of your favorite Toddler Room Organization ideas? Share them below in the comments!

Hello first I want to say you did an awesome job on your daughters room. My question is where did u get her bed?
Thanks Veronica! The bed is actually her baby bed that was converted to a toddler day bed, and then finally a double bed. It’s the Savannah Collection by Munire. You can find it here: http://www.munirefurniture.com/products-page/savannah-collection
I got a label-maker for Christmas and I went crazy using it in the storage room. I almost labeled the clear drawer that I put it in when I was done, but I thought that might be a little overkill.
Also, I love that she has a drawer full of just Frozen dolls.
That’s awesome! And Liv….that Frozen dolls drawer is FULL. 😉
Isn’t it crazy how much stuff kids have? Labels are so handy for organizing all their good! Pinning!
I actually need to working own my little one’s toddler room. *tear* Thanks for the inspiration!
Did you see what I had to deal with before? LOL. It drove me crazy, but since I have changed her room like the pictures above show, she has been able to keep everything up and neat. She also gets a penny a day to go into her piggy bank so it’s a little motivation to keep it up! 🙂
Just wondering where you put the THAWED DOLLS. (Sorry, but I just couldn’t resist that one.) 🙂
haha!!
I love the idea of the stackable drawers! I think we will be incorporating these into the bedrooms of our 4 and 6 year old children. What size would you say these bins are?
Thank you. Love your article!
Thanks so much! They are 8.25″ high and 21.75″ deep. Plenty large enough for lots of toys 🙂
Cute ideas!! Thanks so much!!!
Great ideas! It’s amazing how much STUFF one little 2yo girl can have…makes me nervous for the teen years! Definitely going to incorporate your ideas into every toy-cluttered room of my house, thanks!
Hi there! It seems I found you twice today…once on a Linky and once through Tamara Like Camera. Anyway, I HAD to comment on how cute that backdrop is for your little girl’s vanity. My girls would go nuts for something like that! Looks like you did a great job getting everything organized. We don’t keep things labeled per say, but I’m a big advocate of “put it in a bin” organizing. It has to be simple, or the kids won’t keep up with it, right? Hope you had a great day!
Thanks Leslie! I am so happy you stopped in. That backdrop behind her vanity was actually a quick ten minute project. It didn’t take long at al! All you need is craft foam, fabric, and an upholstery stapler and you are SET! Here is the link to the post if you want to check it out! https://www.pinkwhen.com/diy-no-sew-cornice-and-curtains/
I love your article! I have been trying to organize my kids shared room (they are 2, 4 and 5) and it has been difficult! Your article is inspiring, hopefully I’ll get it under control soon!
Hi,
Great ideas. Very effective makeover.
Can you tell me where you bought the plastic bins? Can’t seem to find that size and they are perfect for our space.
Thanks,
Shelley
I picked my bins up at our local Lowes. 🙂
How do you keep the bins stacked? Are they attached to each other?
No they are stackable and they fit together.
