I am a lover of Anthropologie just like everyone else. My only downfall is that my pocket book says “NO” and my crafty side says “YES!” I decided I needed to make these pillows and save myself a little green! Check out my His. & Hers. Throw Pillows {Anthropologie Knock-Off} post with full details below!
His. & Hers. Throw Pillows {Anthropologie Knock-Off}
Here is a list of what you will need for this project:
- (2) 15″ x 15″ white fabric
- (2) 15″ x 10″ white fabric
- (2) 15″ x 8″ white fabric
- sewing machine
- grommets and tools
- black heat transfer material
- (2) 14″ x 14″ throw pillows
These pillows at Anthropologie are priced at $98, A PIECE! Yes, you read that correctly. They are just shy of $100 for ONE pillow. I love pillows, but I don’t even pay that much for my big, fluffy, down-filled king-sized pillows. My husband would kill me for spending $200 on little pillows, but he won’t mind me spending less than $30 for 2!
How to make His & Hers Pillows
Here is a break down of the costs:
- fabric (free, I had it on hand. If you have 4 white dinner napkins, you do, too!)
- grommet kit ($10.99)
- 2 pillow forms ($7.99 each)
- heat transfer (I had it on hand, but it costs less than $10 for a package)
Step 1 – Take your 15 x 10 and 15 x 8 pieces and create a seam, sewing a straight edge.
Step 2 – Place your right sides together, and piece together the 15 x 15, 15 x 10, and 15 x 8 pieces in a square. Your 15 x 10 and 15 x 8 will overlap, creating the envelope entrance for the pillows once finished.
Step 3 – Sew around all of the edges. Once you have finished, trim the four corners.
Step 4 – After you have your case sewn together, turn it right side out and use a pen top or something slightly pointy to get your corners to straighten out.
Step 5 – Either use you vinyl cutting machine (if you have one) or use your home printer to print out your letters and then trace over the vinyl and carefully cut out.
Step 6 – Iron on your heat transfer to your pillow case.
Step 7 – Insert the pillow form.
Step 8 – Gather your pillow corner and take a pen and mark the inside of the grommet onto the pillow. Then cut the hole.
Step 9 – Following the directions on the grommet kit, insert the grommet bottom, place the top on, and hammer into place.
Step 10 – ENJOY your new pillows! I did this in a quick afternoon, and I think both of these took me just a little over an hour for BOTH. How’s that for a quick, cute, and inexpensive knock-off!?
I am so in love with these pillows. There is something about making these for myself and saving a little money that makes them even better.
Have you ever re-created something that you were in love with? I am going to be sharing a few more of my favorite knock-off projects soon, but until then, I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial on these His. & Hers. Throw Pillows {Anthropologie Knock-Off}.

This is why we should be next door neighbors. They’re adorable and look just as good, if not better, than the Anthropologie ones!
I went in there once for just an hour and my final bill was $600. Can you believe that one?

Haha! You know I would have totally made these for that new King size bed of yours, but I am sure I would have to add a Little HIS. and a Little HERS. for Des and Scarlet 🙂
