KFC Coleslaw Recipe

This easy copycat KFC Coleslaw recipe is the perfect side dish! It’s so close to the real thing that no one will ever know it was made in your own kitchen. This homemade coleslaw recipe is one of my favorite things to add as a side or a simple snack, and it’s perfect for a summer bbq.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE:

  • Food Processor
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Serving Bowl

Ingredients:

  • Bag of Coleslaw Mix
  • Large Shallot
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Mayonnaise
  • Buttermilk
  • Whole Milk
  • Lemon Juice
  • White Vinegar
  • Salt
  • Pepper

How To Make Copycat KFC Coleslaw

First, add the shredded coleslaw mix to a food processor and pulse it a few times to chop finer. Not too fine, though. Then add to a medium or large mixing bowl.

Then, peel and grate the shallot into the coleslaw mix.

Next, in another small mixing bowl, add the sugar, mayonnaise, buttermilk, milk, lemon juice, and vinegar. Use a whisk to mix it well.

After that, pour into the coleslaw mix and stir well to combine.

Finally, add the salt and pepper, then stir again.

Last, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Upon serving, give another good stir and strain from the dressing.

Yes, it won’t affect the taste. Only aesthetically will it change the way it looks, as KFC Cole slaw mix does not contain red cabbage.

I can’t find the pre-packaged coleslaw can I make it from scratch?

Most definitely, Take a small head of cabbage and chop it finely into small pieces. Take 3 large carrots and grate then mix with the cabbage.

  • 1 large shallot grated
  • 1/3 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk

  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
