Awesome recipe.
Jennifer says
So glad you like it! It’s honestly amazing.

Your photo shows something green and possibly some other items. What else did you sprinkle on top after placing the cheese over the rolls? They’re more work than how I make mine but they look so delicious I’m going to have to make these!!! I notice many of your recipes are made for large quantities. I think I may have to cut them in half. Thank you for providing good recipes!
Jennifer says
I sprinkled a little dried parsley on top before I took the picture, so that’s the green. There is nothing else on top other than the meat sauce and cheese, which are the last steps before you place them into the oven. They are a lot of work, and you could easily get away with cutting the recipe in half and still having plenty. OR Since they are so much work, you can get foil pans and place the second batch in a foil pan and place those in the freezer before baking. Then you have another meal for later that you don’t have to spend a couple of hours on. I would reheat them covered in foil on 350 for about 60 minutes, and then 10 minutes without the foil. Hope you enjoy! We had them again this past weekend. 🙂
Dan says
Do you have any issues of the noodles drying out?
Jennifer says
Not at all! I cover (the first half of baking) with foil, and then remove the foil at the end for a few minutes. I have never had an issue any time I have made these. 🙂

Thanks for the great recipe! I added an extra can of crushed tomatoes and turned the oven up to 425 for the final 10 mins to brown the cheese a little. Found this on Pinterest.

Thanks for the recipe! This is a clever twist on traditional lasagna – at first I thought it was going to be finger food – like pizza roll-ups, and I had no idea how you were going to pull that off!
Jennifer says
Thanks Doug! They are truly delicious, one of my favorite things to make.

I’m preparing to make this wonderful dish of yours. I have one question…it calls for the diced tomatoes and a 16oz tomato sauce and an 8oz tomato sauce, correct?
The 8 oz one is not tomato paste? I just want to be clear that there are 24oz of tomato sauce?
Jennifer says
Yes! That is correct 🙂
Shonna says
Mine just went in the oven and we are all excited to taste them. Only thing I found that was different is that we only managed to make 9 from the measurements. I had no extra sauce or cheese…
Jennifer says
WOW~! I can’t believe you only made nine. I bet they were really big. I hope you love them as much as we do!
Kathy says
Did you cook the noodles first? I thought lasagna noodles are dry and brittle when uncooked
Jennifer says
I did cook the noodle first. They are easier to roll when they are cooked 🙂
Celeste says
Question: Has anyone made the Roll-Ups and put them in the freezer to back later? Looking for freezer meal, I think this could work.
thank you
ElizabethT. says
Thank you for the details! I made this recipe once again for my potluck and it came out great. I made exactly 18 rolls with it. There were a few minor differences ( skipped the sausage, used fat free ricotta) and still came out tasty. It’s worth the time ^_^
