I created a fun tutorial a few weeks back on how to create a diffuser necklace. After quite a few people asking in comments and on social media for the bracelet I shared, I am happy to post this tutorial on how to make your own DIY essential oil diffuser bracelet.
They are super cute, and I love all of the compliments I get on mine. They are also simple to make, which makes this craft a BONUS! You can whip one out in less than 5 minutes. Make sure you also bookmark this page to learn of other great ways to use your essential oils!

To get started making a diffuser bracelet, you will need to have a few things on hand to work with.
DIY Essential Oil Diffuser Bracelet
- beads
- charms
- stretch magic
- favorite oils (<–click there to see what my favorite oils are!)
- imagination!
These are really easy to make, and don’t take long at all. In fact, you can whip these up rather quickly.
First, unwind a small portion of the stretch magic. I just do a little, because if you do too much, you may get tied up in knots.
After you have the stretch magic started, go ahead and start adding your beads to the string. Do not re-cut the stretch magic. Just start adding the beads.
Once you get to your desired length, wrap it around your wrist and make sure it fits. You may need to add a few beads or even take some away.
Once you have your beads added, I like to add my charm, and the large open metal bead that I use as my diffuser piece.
Tie the ends together in several knots, and then cut your bracelet from the stretch magic. Oila! A beautiful new bracelet!

Where do you get your open metal beads? How do you add the essential oils?
Jennifer says
I got these at my local Michael’s craft store. You just add 1 or 2 drops to the open metal bead. I have some beads where I can actually add the oil directly to the bead and it is absorbed. 🙂

It seems like the best way to add the oils would be to combine them first, then add to a porous bead, for example, clay (without a glaze), or another organically-based bead, such as a rose petal bead. That way, the scent would be warmed next to your skin (diffusing the scent) and yet, not getting your skin oily. Just a thought–wonderful idea, these bracelets!

what are the large brown beads on the “Dream a little Dream” bracelet? where did you get them?
Jennifer says
Those I picked up at the local Michael’s craft store. They are so pretty!

I love the idea of a bracelet! I don’t wear them much but I do wear essential oils on my wrist so I’m attuned to sniffing my wrists when I need it.

Where did you find your adorable charms at? When I clicked the link, it took me to “hand made” charm. I love the ones you have with encouraging words! 🙂 These would be great gifts.
Thanks for the tutorial.
Jennifer says
Thanks! I love them, too. I picked them up at my local Michael’s Craft Store. 🙂

Your bracelets are beautiful but I don`t understand how you put the essential oils in the metal ball. Could you please explain? How does it stay in there and how long does it typically last? Thank you in advance for your help.
Jennifer says
You can place a drop or two of the oils inside of the metal ball. There are openings all over them. I do this when I have the bracelet on my wrist. That way if anything seeps out of the metal ball while still wet, it will land on my wrist. I don’t place any “hot” oils in my bracelet diffuser, so I don’t have to worry about any skin sensitivity. A drop or two is not a lot, so anything that does escape is minimal. Also, some of the beads I use absorb the oils as well. Hope that helps! 🙂

I love this idea, I have everything here that I need to make them I think except the stretch magic. I might have to have a go at this!

I have never seen one of these and love the idea of such a pretty bracelet also being a wonderful essential oil diffuser. Thank you so much for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy

I love these bracelets. I will pin it so that I could try to make them later. Thank you! 🙂

What a great idea! I love your bracelets. Aqua is one of my favorite colors and the natural look suits me. The bonus of essantial oils – it couldn´t be better. I pinned your tutorial and will head out to buy some open metal beads. Thank you for sharing the lovely jewlery!

Can you show how to make one for young men? My boys have ADHD and I am looking into using oils, but they won’t wear something like this. Thanks.
Jennifer says
Hi Ron, that is true. I have seen leather braided bracelets that people will use for both boys and girls. I think you can find a leather braided bracelet at your local craft store! Hopefully that helps 🙂

Ron, my stepson has adhd and ODD as well as a few other comorbids. I never even thought to make something like this for him, was going to attempt to get him to make it for his grandmother so big thanks to you for this idea too! I have hemp cord I can use for his and I bought it at my local dollar store where I buy quite a bit of craft stuff (as well as Michael’s). Now just to find the right oils is another task for my stepson lol. Good luck and thank you!
Jennifer says
I hope you find something that works well. I have seen leather braided bracelets, and I think the boys like those a lot.

My son has both as well. I use sacred mountain, vertiver and lavender for him. They work well.

Hello 🙂 I love the idea its absolutely lovely. What metal beads do you use that absorbs the essential oil and where can I get them at? 🙂
Jennifer says
I pick up my different beads at Hobby Lobby and Michaels, but the metal ones that have the open spaces for me to place drops in – I found at Michaels. 🙂
Jeanna says
These are pretty…can you also put a small scrap of felt inside the bead to absorb the essential oil? What kind of essential oil is best to use?
Jennifer says
You can use any one of your essential oils that are your favorites to wear. You could probably place a little felt in their, but I am not sure how it would smell if you changed the scents frequently without changing the felt, too.

Love this idea! I was wondering how you tied the ends. I find that stretch magic comes undone easily. I’m doing something wrong. Lol!
Jana says
If you used wooden beads would they absorb the oils as well? If you just placed a drop in the opening where you put the string through…and then if you used a natural string like hemp wouldn’t it absorb it as well? Just curious as I plan to make some of these for my family and myself this weekend thanks 🙂
Jennifer says
I would think that will work as well 🙂
Christy says
Do you sell your bracelets?
Jennifer says
hi Christy, I do not sell these bracelets. I do on occasion make some for friends and family, but don’t have the time to make and sell them. Thanks for asking!
