This Air Fryer French Toast recipe is one of my favorite easy recipes to make with the air fryer. You’ll love how quick and hands-off this delicious breakfast dish is!
I love using my Air Fryer. It makes everything so much easier. In fact, I hardly use my oven when I can make all of my favorite meals in the Air Fryer.
Our Air Fryer is relatively quiet, and it helps keep my house and kitchen cool when I don’t have to turn on the oven or the stovetop. Trust me, you don’t want to use your oven in the middle of a Louisiana summer heatwave.
I especially love making breakfast in the Air Fryer. Some of my favorite breakfast recipes to make are these easy Air Fryer French Toast Sticks, Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls, and Air Fryer Biscuit Donut Holes.

Ingredients:
- bread
- large eggs
- milk
- cinnamon and sugar
*Tip: I typically allow my bread to sit out for a couple of hours or overnight to get “stale” before using it in this recipe. It’s not required, but this is what helps make the best french toast. The staleness of the bread absorbs the egg mixture perfectly and makes a more dense and flavor-filled french toast.
How to Make French Toast in the Air Fryer
- In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour the egg mixture onto a shallow bowl or plate for easier dipping.
- Take each slice of bread and dip it into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
- Add the cinnamon sugar to each piece of bread, and then place the bread slices in a single layer in the prepared air fryer basket.
- Air fry the French toast for 8-10 minutes at 390 degrees Fahrenheit, carefully flipping the toast after 5 minutes. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may have to cook these in two batches.
- Once golden brown and fully cooked, remove the toast from the air fryer, add an extra dash of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and top with fresh berries, melted butter, confectioners’ sugar, and real maple syrup.
Note: Check the toast after 8 minutes as each air fryer is different and can cook slower or faster depending on the wattage. You may need to add more time or remove the french toast earlier. For this recipe, I used a Cosori 5.8 and found that 10 minutes was a perfect cook time.
What type of bread is best to use when making french toast?
I love to use Texas toast, but you can also use brioche bread, french bread, or any favorite types and slices of stale bread you like best.
How do I store leftover french toast?
Store leftover french toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the french toast in the air fryer at 390 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 1-2 minutes, or until heated thoroughly.
What’s the best way to prepare the air fryer basket when making french toast?
I think the best type of preparation for the basket is by using a spray bottle with olive oil. Even with a non-stick coating, the egg on the bread will want to stick to the liner of the basket. I don’t typically use cooking spray, and you can check out other oils that are best in the air fryer. You can also use air fryer parchment paper.
What are other toppings I can use on French toast?
There are so many great options! I love to use toppings such as fresh fruit (bananas, strawberries, blueberries) and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top. I’ve also made this french toast and topped it with whipped cream and chocolate chips. There are tons of good options, so let your taste buds guide you.
EXPERT TIPS: For an even sweeter recipe, consider replacing the milk with heavy cream and add a teaspoon vanilla extract for even more flavor.
I hope you enjoy this easy breakfast recipe as much as my whole family does. It’s a kid-friendly breakfast and fun recipe that’s a good choice if you’re looking to quickly please a crowd.

I just got an air fryer again after my Cosori was recalled. This one is smaller but easier to use. I made this recipe before. Delicious thank you
