These loaded potato skins are one of my favorite air fryer recipes. Made with delicious potatoes, my favorite toppings, and melted cheese. I personally think they are the perfect appetizer for game day, or any occasion.

I love making things in the air fryer, and I especially love side dishes and appetizers.

Some of my favorite recipes are these crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings, Air Fryer Eggplant Wedges, Air Fryer Baked Potatoes, Air Fryer Tater Tots, Air Fryer Pasta Chips, and Air Fryer Pizza Rolls.

What I love the most about this delicious air fryer potato skins recipe is the crispy skin and how they remind me of the TGI Fridays potato skins. Now I can make one of my favorite appetizers easily at home.

This is a great recipe for homemade potato skins and serves as a great side dish or appetizer.

Ingredients needed to make potato skins in the air fryer.

Here is what I have found to be the best way to make potato skins in the air fryer.

How to Make Air Fryer Potato Skins

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare the air fryer basket with parchment paper or nonstick spray if needed.

  2. Cook the potatoes with your preferred cooking method – I cook them in the Air Fryer at 380 degrees for 40 minutes.

  3. Allow to slightly cool before cutting the potatoes in half and scooping out about half of the inside of the potatoes, using a small spoon.

  4. Add the salt and pepper to the olive oil. Brush the potato halves with olive oil. Make sure to coat the entire flesh of the potato.

  5. Place the potato skins in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer, skin side down. Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.

Potato skins brushed with salt, pepper, and olive oil and placed skin side down into the air fryer basket.

  6. Top each potato skin with crumbled bacon bits and cheddar cheese. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and then cook for 2-3 minutes.

  7. Carefully remove the potato skins from the air fryer basket and top with sour cream and green onions before serving.

I love to serve these with a side of ranch dressing for dipping.
