Frozen Tater Tots in the Air Fryer

If you’re looking for something quick and easy to snack on, you need to grab a bag of frozen tater tots the next time you’re at the store. You won’t believe just how good these are!

  • Crispy deep-fried flavor without the unhealthy fats or actual frying.
  • No added ingredients, just grab the tater tots and get started!
  • They make the perfect afternoon snack or game day dish.
  • From start to finish you are done in just about 15 minutes!

You can also change the flavor easily! Add a little flavored olive oil to a spray bottle and change up the flavor into so many different combinations. My favorites are garlic-infused olive oil and rosemary-infused olive oil.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER TATER TOTS

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Once preheated, prepare the basket for cooking by spraying the bottom of the basket with oil, or place a piece of parchment into the bottom of the basket.
  3. Place the tater tots in a single layer in the basket.
  4. Cook for 15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, tossing the tater tots in the basket every 5 minutes or so.

Add additional time for crispier tots.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH TATER TOTS

Tater Tots are the perfect party food and side dish. Whether its for the birthday party or a big game party, these little tots are always perfect for the menu.

Serve your favorite sauces such as ketchup, barbecue, and ranch dressing. Consider other flavors such as buffalo sauce and even with a chunky pico de gallo or guacamole.

Of course, if you’re serving a main dish such as chili or even hotdogs, these potato tots will be perfect with cheese.

TIPS:

Frozen tater tots in the air fryer will be perfect if you follow these quick and easy tips.

  • Preheat the air fryer before cooking.
  • Prepare the basket with oil or use parchment on the basket.
  • Line the tater tots in a single layer in the bottom of the basket.
  • Cook for 15 minutes, tossing them every 4 minutes.
  • Add additional 1 minutes increments for additional crispness.

What are Tater Tots?

Tater tots are actually are grated potato with onion and seasonings mixed in and then rolled into a ball. Tater is just the short slang term for a potato that American food company Ore-Ida trademarked when creating this signature side dish.

That name stuck and is used more as a term describing all tots versus just those made from potato.

Vegan and gluten free side items like cauli tots are also made in a similar fashion.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz potato tots

Instructions

  • Preheat the Air Fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare the lining of the basket with parchment paper or by spraying with olive oil.
  • Add the tater tots into the basket of the Air Fryer in a single layer.
  • Cook on 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes. Add additional one minute increments for extra crispy tots.

Notes

Serve Air Fryer Tater Tots with sauces like ketchup, barbecue, and ranch. 
Add items like guacamole and pico de gallo for additional flavor. 
Change up the flavor of the tater tots by spraying them with a flavored olive oil such as garlic or rosemary before cooking.
