Cooking Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer
There are several reasons I choose to cook pizza rolls in air fryer versus an oven or microwave. It’s faster, more convenient, and they are PERFECT every single time.
- Air Fried Pizza Rolls are fully cooked and crisp in just a few minutes
- Microwaved pizza bites are soggy, can explode with pizza sauce, and are never crunchy.
- Preheating a regular oven takes time, and so does oven baking.
Just those few reasons alone should make you want to make delicious pizza rolls in an air fryer. But if that wasn’t enough, you could also deep fry pizza rolls to get that perfect fried taste.
When making air-fried pizza rolls, there is no oil, and you’re saving yourself about 70% of the extra fat calories you would have received from actual fried pizza rolls. The cooking time is also short!

What Ingredients Do I Need?
You only need to have a few simple ingredients on hand to make these awesome pizza rolls from scratch. You can make them several different ways, but I love to make them with store-bought dough. I love easy, so I think using an already made pizza dough is the best way.
PIZZA DOUGH – You can use store-bought pizza dough or you can make a homemade dough from scratch if you have time.
PIZZA SAUCE – Choose your favorite traditional pizza sauce, marinara sauce, or make one from scratch if you have time.
CHEESE – Mozzarella cheese or a blended pizza cheese is always a favorite with pizzas. You can also top the pizza rolls with parmesan cheese once cooked.
OTHER FILLING – Other than cheese and sauce, you can add additional fillings such as pepperoni, ham, ground beef, onion, bacon, bell pepper, mushrooms, and more. Choose your favorites and mix and match as you go.
EGG and WATER– You will use this to seal the pizza rolls closed.

Step by Step Instructions
- Roll out the pizza dough and use a large cookie cutter to create 5″ circles.
- Add a tablespoon of pizza sauce to the middle of the dough.
- Sprinkle a tablespoon of mozzarella cheese onto the pizza sauce.
- Add additional toppings such as pepperoni. Do not overfill the rolls.
- Whisk the egg and water together to create an egg wash. Use a brush and brush the inner edges of the dough.
- Fold the dough in half and use a fork to seal the edges of the rolls. Complete for the remainder of the rolls.
- Place the homemade pizza rolls in a single layer in the prepared Air Fryer basket.
- Air Fry at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping or with an additional marinara sauce for dipping.
Pro Tips:
- For best results, don’t overfill the pizza rolls. Overfilling the pizza rolls could cause the rolls to leak during cooking or burst at the top.
- Use a fork to seal the edges and make sure to seal them well so they don’t leak during the cooking process.
- Make sure to fully cook any toppings that need to be cooked before adding them to the rolls. (Ex. ground beef, onions, etc.)
- Allow the pizza rolls to cool for a few minutes before digging in. They will be hot and you’ll be happy to not burn the roof of your mouth.
- Store the pizza rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Add to an airtight container and freeze them for up to 3 months. To reheat frozen pizza rolls, heat the Air Fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 5-6 minutes.
- Prepare the basket with nonstick spray or with parchment paper just before cooking for easy cleanup. Never preheat the air fryer with parchment paper, only add parchment paper after the preheat and just before adding food to the basket.
- Always watch whatever recipe you are making during the last few minutes. I use a Cosori Air Fryer, but air fryer cooking time can be slightly different depending on the wattage of the air fryer. You want to make sure you’re not overcooking or undercooking, so use the time as a guide and see what works best for your specific air fryer.
- Don’t spray the liner of the basket with a cooking spray such as PAM. The soy lecithin ingredient can strip the basket liner over time. Use an Air Fryer-approved oil and a spray bottle.
Make these pizza rolls in batches and your kids will go crazy when you add them to their school lunch box. Not only are they easy to make, but they will devour them quickly.
What other fillings can I use?
My kids and I can be basic so we will always use pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Consider adding additional filling such as ham, bacon, onion, bell pepper, olives, mushrooms, and more.
You just want to make sure you don’t overfill the rolls and can easily seal them completely closed.
What about reheating frozen pizza rolls?
If you’re reheating these pizza rolls from frozen, you will want to make sure to preheat the Air Fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
After the preheat, line the basket with parchment paper or nonstick cooking spray and place the pizza rolls into a single layer. Add a cook time of 5-6 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the are cooked fully through.
I never use the microwave anymore and the kiddos are happy to no longer eat a soggy pizza roll.
How to Cook Totino’s Pizza Rolls in the Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare the basket with a piece of parchment paper or olive oil cooking spray.
- Open the Air Fryer Basket and place a single layer of pizza rolls on the basket. Leave a little room between the pizza rolls, careful to not overcrowd them.
- Cook the frozen pizza rolls for 6 minutes, flipping them at the 3 minute mark.
- When finished, remove the pizza rolls from the basket and allow them to cool for 2 minutes before cooking. Be careful, they are HOT!
- Serve with pizza sauce, marinara sauce, Ranch salad dressing, or your favorite sauce for dipping.
How Long to Cook Pizza Rolls
Pizza rolls are cooked in just 6 minutes in the air fryer, flipping halfway through the cook time. They should be perfectly golden brown, crispy pizza rolls.
You don’t need to add any oil to the pizza rolls, and only should spray a little olive oil on the basket to keep them from sticking to the bottom.
You can also use parchment paper sheets to keep the rolls from sticking to the basket.
If you cook more pizza rolls than you expected and have over a single layer, you’ll want to add extra cook time to the air fryer. Typically just a few minutes, checking frequently for doneness.
Just try and make sure they are as evenly spaced as possible for even cooking.
WHAT AIR FRYER SHOULD I USE?
JOIN OUR NEW AIR FRYER FACEBOOK GROUP!
We love our Air Fryers and actually have two of them! If you’re in the market for an Air Fryer I love to use both the Ninja Foodie Pro and the Cosori 5.8Q.
The Ninja Foodi is a grill and has several different options. It’s also called an air crisper, and you can learn more about that here. I like this for larger projects. You can open the top and check on what’s cooking, and you can also use the temperature probe and never undercook or overcook anything again.
The Cosori has a basket, is an actual air fryer, and makes it easy to shake things around while cooking. The handle on the basket makes removing the basket easier, and it’s very easy to clean. Each works very well and I use them both with this big family of mine. I can have them both working and have dinner done FAST.
They both really do work great and I love to use them on an almost daily basis. One last thing I would recommend with whichever air fryer you choose, make sure to get some basket liners. They are amazing and help make cleanup a breeze!
