With the “Brady bunch”, my husband and I were bound to have children with birthdays that fall on or around the holidays. Him and I both have birthdays that both can fall on Easter. Luckily, the two boys have their birthdays fall out of holiday range, but our two girls have birthdays close to Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our youngest is the one who has her birthday close to Christmas, and having a holiday birthday can sometimes be a little underwhelming with all of the holiday excitement. To help keep her birthday separate from the holidays, I love to use Hallmark Cards to help celebrate her special birthday.
Addy was due on December 25th, but with her size and my heart condition, we had to have a c section. When that was decided, we opted for a little earlier birthday than Christmas, and took into account the medical staff, our families who travel, etc.
I have several friends and family members who have birthdays on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. It can be hard to separate those out. It can really be hard for little ones who don’t necessarily understand the difference, and who have older siblings who have “normal” birthdays. While she will always have a birthday fall in the holidays, I try and make sure she can really understand the difference between the two by making her birthday stand out a little more than normal. How do I do that? The same way I do with my oldest who has had her birthday fall on Thanksgiving…I say it with a Hallmark Card….several of them, in fact!
Holiday Birthday & Hallmark Cards
While shopping at Walmart, you can find some of the cutest cards and can spend an hour going through all of the different choices. They have cards for just about anything you can think of! The selection is amazing, and my family has always been a Hallmark Card family.
Making those holiday birthdays stand out can be a bit of a challenge when they are so close, or falling on the holiday. I do this with a bit of a “ramp up” to their actual birthday by giving them more than one card. They both love to read, and they both are so animated.
You can see that they are enjoying their Hallmark Birthday Cards.
Everyones birthday deserves to be their own special day. Have you ever set up a birthday card file to help you stay organized and keep track of all of those birthdays coming up throughout the year? Have you seen the fun cards available at Walmart and Connections from Hallmark?

One of my best friends and I used to spend hours reading and buying Hallmark cards. We would have tears of laughter rolling down our faces. I’m due to send her one, January birthday coming up!

I have to admit, I am terrible about birthday cards. But really good about special birthday dinners!

My stepdaughter’s birthday is December 27th, and we always try to get her two separate gifts – Christmas and birthday. I’ve always loved Hallmark cards. I could spend hours looking at every single one of them in the stores.
Jennifer says
Awe, Happy Holiday Birthday to her. I can spend hours reading Hallmark cards, too!
