DIY Halloween Pumpkin Craft

Happy September PinkWhen readers! It’s Brandy from BD Design Blog and I’m so happy to be here with you today! I have a secret…I like summer but I LOVE the fall! I mean the summers in Arizona are pretty brutal so you can’t blame me, right? One of the things I love about fall is making Halloween crafts and recipes. Here is a fun twist to the traditional pumpkin! At first, I thought I wanted to do an orange pumpkin with black bats because…bats are black, right? But when I saw this black pumpkin at the craft store I knew I needed to use it. I love the orange bats on it. It’s a little different and unexpected.

Easy Halloween Pumpkin Craft

The best part about this Halloween Pumpkin Craft is that I made this spooky little pumpkin in less than 20 minutes and it cost no more than $10!

Here’s what you will need:
– a styrofoam black pumpkin
– around 20 orange bats cut from card stock in a variety of shapes
– glue dots

Use your Silhouette to cut out your bat shapes in lots of different sizes. I did find that I used more of the smaller bats and just a few large bats for this project. Use a black fine tip marker to give the cute little bats eyes and gently fold up the wings to give it a 3D effect.

Attach each orange bat to the pumpkin using a small glue dot. I started with the big ones at the top and worked my way down using the medium and smaller bats. I absolutely love how this pumpkin turned out and I couldn’t believe how quickly it came together.

  1. Really, really cute idea. I also love the “black” pumpkin with the addition of orange bats, what a nice change of pace from the usual. Happy fall.

  2. Wow I have heard about using the bats to decorate your walls but I never thought to just stick them on a pumpkin! So cute!
