NOTE: All air fryers cook a little differently, so you may have to adjust the cook time slightly with this recipe. This was made with a Cosori 5.8 quart Air Fryer and the cake was perfect!

    FAQs

Do you need to use a special cake pan for the air fryer?

You do not need a special air fryer cake pan to make this recipe. The pan size will depend on the size of your air fryer. You can use any cake pan or Springform pan you would use in a conventional oven in the air fryer as long as it fits your air fryer basket or shelves.

Can I add different ingredients to the box cake mix?

Yes! You can add chocolate chips, pecan pieces, walnuts, or even freeze-dried fruits.

How do you store the cake?

Store the leftover cake by covering it in plastic wrap or placing it into an airtight container. Store the cake at room temperature for up to 3 days.

How do I make a homemade cake in the air fryer?

Make sure you have these ingredients on hand: salted butter, cream cheese, granulated white sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and baking powder. Combine the flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder into a mixing bowl and set aside. Add the cream cheese, butter, and sugar to a medium-sized mixing bowl. Use a hand mixer to blend the ingredients until they are completely combined and creamy, about 2 minutes. Combine the eggs, and vanilla and to the butter and sugar mixture and blend until mixed well. Add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix well. Pour the batter into the bundt pan. Cook at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-18 minutes. Add additional increments of 1 minute if needed. Allow the cake to cool before removing the pan from the air fryer and adding frosting or decorating.

Do you need to preheat the air fryer before baking?

I don’t preheat my Cosori 5.8 quart air fryer before baking cakes or cookies.

    1. Most box cake mixes call for 2 eight or nine inch pans. Do you have to do this twice?

      1. No ma’am! This was done in one pan – it’s the large cake pan that comes in the Cosori bundle and I use the 1 x 7.5″ cake barrel. No need for cooking it in batches or with different sized pans.
