Although I have already had my fill, my mouth is still watering for more of these Grand Apple Cinnamon Biscuits I prepared for the #KitchenAidContest. While helping drive awareness to the new KitchenAid black stainless steel appliances, KitchenAid has thrown out a challenge. An apple challenge to be exact. I had to throw my hat in the ring and share this amazing apple recipe. It can be breakfast or it can be a dessert. One thing I know for sure – you will want to eat every last morsel on your plate.
Breakfast is known as one of the most important meals of the day. Whether you are noshing on waffles, pancakes, eggs, or cereal, it’s the kickstarter to your day. When I was growing up my mom would almost always make biscuits in the morning. Sure there were days when I would have to rush through the morning and eat some cereal. But when she made biscuits, my day was always a little brighter.
We had biscuits in many different ways, either stand alone, made with eggs and cheese, made with bacon and cheese, or just plain and topped with syrup. The latter being one of my favorites. I always liked smothering my fresh from the oven biscuits with gravy. I would hardly leave a morsel on my plate. Those memories are what inspired me to make this Grand Apple Cinnamon Biscuit recipe. I LOVE apples, and I love biscuits, and this recipe is an amazing mashup of the two.
Grand Apple and Cinnamon Biscuits
To make this recipe, you will need a few ingredients on hand:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/3 cup softened butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 Tbsp Cinnamon Sugar (separated into 1 Tbsp/2Tbsp)
- 2 Granny Smith Apples (or your favorite type of apple)
- Syrup
Preheat your oven to 400. Place your ingredients into a KitchenAid Stand Mixer with a dough hook, or a large bowl. Mix together the flour, milk, baking powder, 1 Tbsp cinnamon sugar, and softened butter. Mix and stir until dough is formed.
Cover a work surface with flour and knead your dough for one minute. Roll the dough out and use a circle cookie cutter or drinking glass rim to create your rounded dough biscuits.
Peel the apples and cut them into small bite sized pieces.
Take a piece of the biscuit dough and flatten it out a bit. Add in some apple pieces and sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar.
Then place another flattened dough biscuit on top. Then pinch the sides together. Sprinkle with a little more cinnamon sugar.
Once all of the grand apple and cinnamon biscuits are made, place into the oven and bake for 13-15 minutes or until lightly brown. Remove from oven and place onto a cooling rack for a few minutes.
When serving, add a few apples pieces to the top, sprinkle with a little more cinnamon sugar, and then cover with syrup.
These are SO delicious, and can be made for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
They are large and in charge, and crazy delicious.
I love these Grand Apple and Cinnamon Biscuits. They are a delicious twist to the everyday biscuit.
