A list of our favorite Summer snacks, treats and eats for kids. These fun Summer snacks ideas are easy, and the kids will love to help you put them together.

With Summer in full swing, it can be a challenge to keep the kids and family snacking healthy. The heat is scorching hot and the popsicles and ice cream sandwiches are flowing. It can be hard to convince the kids that they should also be eating their fruits and veggies. (Ok, I may need a little convincing on a hot day as well.) Make those healthy summer snacks enticing so they will gobble them up!

Healthy Summer Snacks with a little fruit and vegetable creativity.

Let me tell you a funny story about my eating habits. I swear I eat like a health nut professional while working my way up to Summer. But when Summer comes, it is SO HARD for me to stick with it. I don’t know if it’s because all of the kids are home, because we are a little laid back on schedules and everything else, or whatever. But when it comes to sticking to my clean eating, I have the TOUGHEST time.

The other problem is that I have done such a good job of eating healthy that when I DO fall off of the bandwagon, it actually makes me feel physically ill. Bleh.

So with the ice cream and Oreos running rampant in my house, I have to make things fun to not only continue my healthy eating habits, but I also want the kids to join in with out feeling like they are being forced. That can take a little creativity.

Healthy Summer Snacks

While I am all about furnishing the kids with their favorite summertime snacks, I want them to also eat healthy snacks. Here are just a few ides to keep the kids eating healthy when it is a bazillion degrees hot outside.

Don’t worry, I add some not so healthy snacks towards the end!! 🙂

FREEZE GRAPES – My youngest will head straight for the freezer for an “ice pop”, but one of the things she also loves is grapes. Freezing grapes is a fun way to cool down and still get that daily allowance of fruits.

MAKE FRUIT KABOBS –  These are generally very easy to make. Just grab some of your favorite fruits and cheeses and alternate them on skewers. They are amazingly delicious and the kids love to make them as much as they love to eat them.

Fruit Skewers - Healthy Summer Snacks

MAKE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE BEETLES – or make any fun little character you want. These are always super fun ways to get your kiddos eating healthy summer snacks. I even made this cool Darth Vader Snack out of grapes and they kids LOVED it!

Grapes Berries and Pretzel Beetles - Healthy Summer Snacks

ANTS ON A LOG – Generally one of the harder healthy summer snacks I can get my kiddos to munch on is a vegetable, but add a little peanut butter and some raisins and they are all for it.

And there you have it! A few fun Healthy Summer Snack ideas to make those snacks a little healthier this Summer.
