The Easter Sugar Cookie Bar Recipe

It all got started this weekend when I was roaming through Pinterest and I came across this amazing frosted sugar cookie bar recipe from The Baker Upstairs. They looked really good, but I wanted to change them up a bit for Easter.

With the help of my little one, we made a few modifications to take these amazing sugar cookie bars to the next level.

How to Make Sugar Cookie Bars

To make these sugar cookie bars you will need to have a few ingredients on hand.

  • egg
  • egg white
  • cup of sugar
  • flour
  • butter (melted)
  • sour cream
  • vanilla
  • almond extract
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • Ghiradelli white chocolate chips
  • 1 bag of M&Ms
  • Sprinkles

Steps to make Sugar Cookie Bars

Heat your oven to 375 and line a 9 x 13 dish with foil, and coat with a non-stick cooking spray.

Add the butter and sugar to a mixer and stir until creamy.

Mix egg, egg white, sour cream, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix well.

Add in flour, salt and baking powder and mix well.

Add in white chocolate chips and mix well.

Pour mixture onto 9 x 13 dish and smooth out. Cover the top with M&Ms and Sprinkles, then bake in the oven for 18-20 minutes.

Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack for 1 hour. Cut into bars and serve.

How do I store cookie bars?

Store these delicious desserts in an airtight container and keep them in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. If you need to, place them in the refrigerator.

This has to be one of the most awesome recipes EVER!! I am honestly surprised I was able to keep enough of these Easter Sugar Cookie Bars around to take pictures of.

Easter Sugar Cookie Bars

This is such a fun recipe, and the kids all like to help when it comes to adding the chocolate, M&Ms, and Sprinkles. Enjoy!

  1. Consider this pinned, and totally in my belly (well, only in my wildest dreams).
Scarlet would love to help me make them. I love your modifications.

    1. She would have so much fun! I love making fun things like this and having the kids help decorate. They love it!

  2. Because of this picture/recipe, I have to get off line and get something to eat!!!! I am low carbing today so I pinned it for later, but I can feel myself weakening! LOL

    1. Haha! Well they are good either now or later 😉

    1. Thank you! They are yummy 🙂

  3. Wow these look lovely 🙂 Think I may be trying them this weekend 🙂 xx

  4. I have seen sugar cookie bar recipes but haven’t made them because their frosting was an important part of the recipe. Your version eliminates the frosting and adds deliciousness to the batter instead! That makes these great care package goodies! Thanks!

I would love to try the Easter cookie bars but I can’t find the recipe for it anywhere. Only the picture is posted.

    1. Hi Robyn, there is a button below the picture that says CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE and that will take you to the recipe. Hope that helps! 🙂

  6. Did you add m&m’s to the mixture too? It looks like they are in the bars…not just on top.

    1. I DID add them into the mixture. In the picture you can see some of them cracked from the heat. If you don’t want them in the mixture and just on top. I would add them carefully right after pulling them from the oven.

  7. Sarah Churchward says:

These are so awesome! I would use Robin eggs instead of m&n’s

  8. Can these be made the day before?

    1. Of course! Just store them in an airtight container so they maintain freshness.
