Easy Banana Bread Recipe
Ahhh, Banana Bread! How delicious the house smells when you are baking in my oven. I love banana bread, it’s such a yummy treat. Perfect to make when you have a ton of ripe bananas to use up. With all of the little monkeys running around here, I hardly ever have any leftover bananas, but this week was an exception. I am going to share with you one of the tastiest recipes for banana bread my tummy has ever experienced.
I grew up with my mom making this recipe, only she liked to add nuts.
While I like nuts, I like them out of my banana bread. (You can add those in if you like.) 🙂
What Ingredients Do I Need to Make Banana Bread
You definitely want to have a good bushel of bananas for this recipe. You need to have 2 and 1/2 cups of crushed bananas. That’s about 5 medium sized bananas.
I have to be honest with you. Sometimes I am craving this banana bread and I don’t even wait on the bananas to get overripe. It’s such a delicious and easy treat to make, I will use fresh bananas all day long. But, it is perfect if you’ve over-bought bananas and are worried about throwing them out.
To get started, let’s gather up our ingredients:
- ripe bananas
- brown sugar
- butter
- eggs
- baking soda
- flour
- salt
- chopped nuts if desired
How to Make Banana Bread
Heat your oven up to 350. In a large bowl, combine flour and baking soda. In medium dish melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar until a creamy texture. Stir in eggs, salt, and bananas. Cream these together well.
Add this mixture slowly to the large bowl with flour, making sure to get everything mixed well.
Grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan. Pour in your banana bread mixture and place it in the heated oven for 1 hour. Check closely at the one hour mark to make sure the edges aren’t browning too much.
Check with a toothpick after an hour, baking longer if needed. Pull when done, and allow to cool before serving.
How do I store banana bread?
Store Banana Bread in an airtight container away from direct sunlight and in a cool place. You should consume the banana bread within a few days.

I love banana bread WITHOUT nuts. I like most things without nuts, although I don’t mind nuts alone. I like my banana bread with chocolate chips. Is that wrong?
Jennifer says

I am totally with you…I like nuts, but not in my banana bread! I love that there is no oil in this recipe…the bananas make it moist enough!
