FAQs

What are some good toppings for French toast?

I love fresh fruit and heavy whipped cream but feel free to top with anything that you want. Honey and maple syrup or even some powdered sugar is great!

How do I make this into cinnamon sugar french toast sticks?

You really just need a serrated knife to cut the slice of bread. Make certain to put the bread in a single layer on the air fryer rack and that is all you have to worry about to make the best french toast sticks!

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread stale
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 Tablespoons granulated white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions

  • Mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl or plate and set aside.
  • Stack the bread and then use a serated knife to cut the slices into thirds.
  • Whisk the eggs together and pour them into a rimmed plate.
  • Dip the bread pieces into the egg and then dip into the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Place the bread into the prepared Air Fryer basket in a single layer with an inch or two between slices.
  • Air Fryer the bread pieces for 8-9 minutes on 370 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping them halfway through.

Notes

Allow the bread to get “stale” for a few hours, or overnight before making this recipe. Dry, stale bread will absorb the egg mixture much faster and hold on to it easily.
Serve french toast sticks with a side of syrup and fresh fruit if desired.
