I’ll never turn down a cookie. Ever. And when I tell the family that I’m making this monster cookie recipe, you better believe that they’re running to the kitchen in the instance that they hear the timer go off for the oven. This simple cookie recipe is “scary” good.

Monster cookies are not only fun to eat but they’re also super fun to make as well. This is because you feel like when you’re making them, you’re adding in a ton of random (yet delicious!) things. Oats? Check. M&M’s? Check. Chocolate Chips? Oh, yes. (and I’ve been known to throw in a handful or two extra-long the way too, because well…why not?!)

Ever since I made these Monster Cookies one time, I knew I was never turning back. They’re giant, they’re packed full of chocolate, and they’re literally perfection in a hand-held treat.

THE BEST COOKIES

If you’re looking for a cookie recipe that makes dainty and cute cookies, this isn’t the one for you. These cookies are lumpy and giant and certain to turn heads. All that chocolate adds more flavor than you can literally even imagine.

While you can easily bake up a batch of these cookies to share – you really don’t have to if you don’t want. There’s nothing wrong with making up a dozen or so of these delicious cookies and binge-watching your favorite movies and shows.

Monster Cookie Recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Cream the butter and sugars together in a medium sized bowl using a hand mixer. Once you have a creamy texture, add the vanilla, egg, and peanut butter. Mix well.

In a separate bowl blend together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda and baking powder with a whisk. Pour the dry mixture into the bowl with the wet mixture.

Use a wooden spoon to mix all ingredients well, about 1 minute. Add the M&Ms, quick oats, and chocolate chips, and continue to blend with the spoon.

Prepare a baking sheet. Using a scoop, add the 2 inch balls of cookie dough and separate them by a few inches.

Bake cookies for 11-12 minutes, or until the edges start to brown. Remove the cookies from the oven. If you want the cookies to have extra M&M’s, now is the perfect time to add a few to the tops and press down easily. Allow the cookies to cool for a minute before placing them on a wire cooling rack.

The only real way to modify these monster cookies is to add in even more chocolate! More chocolate is always a good thing and everyone loves that!

Monster Cookie FAQs

How long do you bake monster cookies?

Depending on how large the cookie dough balls are, I might add a little time. If I am baking 2 inch cookies, I tend to cook them between 11-12 minutes. For extra large monster cookies I bake them between 13-14 minutes.

The directions didn’t tell me when to add the oats. So I baked two batches before I realized I didn’t put any oats in. Good cookies but sad about missing the oats.
