There is something about the Fall season that gets me so excited! The cool weather, time change, turning leaves, and homemade caramel apples.
Homemade Caramel Apples
When I am making my apples, I make sure to warm up a batch of light caramel. It tastes so yummy that sometimes it’s hard not to stick a spoon in it and eat it straight from the bowl. Something about Granny Smith apples and caramel can have me eating for days. I am addicted to the taste and always enjoy a yummy coated caramel apple.
After my caramel is nice and warm, I like to center my sticks and dip the apples in the caramel, rolling them around so that they are fully covered.
Once I have the caramel on, I let it sit for a minute before I add my toppings. Today I added M&Ms and Reese’s Pieces. I love the taste of aGranny Smith apple, light caramel, and a little bit of peanut butter and chocolate.
There are so many different ways you can make these, and I while I love the taste of the Reese’s Pieces, I also like to grind up pretzels and coat them to get a little salty flavor as well. You can also always do the standard chopped nuts, but these are just so much more fun!
What are your favorite Fall desserts that you like to make this time of year? Do you have any traditional favorites that you and your family make?
Let me know what you think of these homemade caramel apples if you try them! Now all we need are for the temperatures to start getting cooler and it will really feel like Fall is in the air.
