I have never seen a cloud cake. Do you buy these in a regular grocery store. They look like Twinkies. This recipe sounds good. Are the cloud cakes like Angel Food Cake? Do you think you could use that, cut up, instead of Cloud Cakes?

Hi Carol! They are made by Little Debbie and they (to me) taste just like Twinkies. This recipe is AMAZING. EVERYONE I know LOVES it. It’s a keeper, and super quick to make. 🙂 A far as Angel Food Cake cut up….the only thing you will be missing is the cream inside of the Cloud Cakes.

We’ve made this for years with Twinkies, except we put the glaze over the strawberries, so it all sticks together better, then we cover and refrigerate for a few hours before we top with the whipped topping and serve.

I personally think this will get soggy if made the day before. Here is the deal….it takes just a FEW minutes! I would pre-cut your strawberries and place them in a baggie or container, and bring the glaze, cloud cakes, and whipped cream with me. When you are ready to serve, place the cakes in the dish, spread the glaze, top with the pre-cut strawberries, and add the whipped cream! It should take you less than 2 minutes 🙂 You can make it ahead and refrigerate if you don’t have time, but I think it will get soggy. If anything, make it the morning of…versus the day before.

I would make it when you need it, which doesn’t take long. You could always speed things up and precut the strawberries the day before. I think it would get a little soggy, but I have had leftovers and they were not THAT soggy. But there was a difference between freshly made and the day after from the fridge. Still AWESOME! 🙂

I made this yesterday for the 4th of July. It tasted great & everyone loved it!!! I put it together maybe 1 hour before we ate & left in fridge, when I took it out the Redi Whip had kind of disappeared. So, if you decide to use Redi Whip instead of Cool Whip, you may want to put it on just before serving.

Hey! Yes you can, but it only takes a few minutes to make. I would not make it the day before just so the cloud cakes don’t get too soggy from the strawberry glaze. But if you don’t mind that, you can totally make it the day before. If you can, just take 5 minutes the day of and you will be good to go! It’s really fast to put together. To speed things up, you could always cut the strawberries the day before. Everything else is just tossing it in a dish 🙂
