EASY STRAWBERRY DUMP CAKE FAQS

How do you know when this cake is done baking in the oven?

Have a clean toothpick handy when the oven timer goes off. Then, take the toothpick and insert it into the middle of the cake.
If the toothpick comes out clean, it’s ready to be pulled from the oven. However, if the toothpick has batter on it still, it’s going to need a few more minutes of baking in the oven.

Do you have to refrigerate dump cake?

Technically, no. Although I think that you get more days out of it when you do. Once I put it in the fridge, I know that I’ll have 2-3 days to eat the cake without worry. (even though there’s no way that it’s going to last that long!)

  1. I don’t like using canned strawberries. What might I substitute? Frozen strawberries? I prefer to control the amount of sugar /corn syrup I use.

    1. You can always skip the canned strawberries and substitute for additional strawberries. If you do that, I would suggest using 3-4 cups of sliced strawberries. I would then use 1-2tbsp of lemon juice over the strawberries, just like you would with a cobbler. Hope that helps!
