Easy Cookie Recipe for Kids

For this recipe, we are going to make a batch of easy homemade cookies.

Start by using a hand or stand mixer to beat your butter and sugar together until it’s creamy.  Next, mix in your almond extract and egg, and once that is incorporated add in your flour. 

If you aren’t a fan of almond cookies, you can swap it out for vanilla extract. They will be just as tasty.

Knead the dough in your hands, add a couple tablespoons of flour if the dough is too sticky. 

Lay down another piece of parchment paper, flour a rolling pin and roll your dough out to about 1/8” thick.  Use a scalloped circle cookie cutter to cut out about 12 circles and place them onto the lined baking pan.

Bake your cookies for 8-10 minutes on 350 degrees.

While your cookies are cooling you can make your frosting colors.

Mix 1 container of frosting with yellow food coloring and frost each cookie. You can also use the neon yellow frosting if your store carries it.
Divide the next container of frosting into 3 seperate bowls and color each one a different color: red, blue and green.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup salted butter, softened

  • 2 cans Vanilla frosting
  • red, yellow, green, blue food coloring
  • 3 decorating bags or ziplock bags

  • Now mix in your flour.
