Slow Cooker 5 Ingredient Angel Chicken

This crock pot 5 ingredient angel chicken is my go to recipe when I’m short on time. I simply toss my chicken breasts in my slow cooker with some butter and a couple other ingredients. After a few hours you’ll have a creamy butter chicken that will melt in your mouth over a bed of pasta.

I love having meals like this on hand. No need to pre-cook anything or stand over the stove all night. You can make this entire meal with just 5 ingredients. Its very filling and the creamy sauce has so much flavor from the italian dressing. Kids will even love this meal.

What You’ll Need

Here are the ingredients you will need to make this creamy slow cooker angel chicken.

Chicken Breasts

Use boneless skinless chicken breasts for this recipe. The chicken will fall apart after it cooks in the creamy sauce. I like to use chicken breasts because they are a healthier option for dinner. If you like dark meat you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs.

Butter Sauce

The butter sauce is created by using a can of condensed cream of chicken soup and cream cheese. The condensed soup gives the chicken a nice flavor and the cream cheese will make it creamy. You won’t have to worry about making a gravy. When mixing your cream cheese and soup make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature. It will be much easier to mix with your soup.

Italian Dressing Mix

Use one packet of dry italian dressing mix. This will add most of the flavor to your angel chicken. I like using the packet because you don’t have to chop garlic or use other seasonings. If you don’t have a packet you can use about 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning.

  • Your sauce may look separated when your done cooking. This happens when the butter and cream cheese heat up. Once you’ve shredded your chicken just stir your sauce and it should look better. You may have some small bits of cream cheese in your sauce if so just continue stirring until it’s smooth.
  • Always try to cook this recipe on low. You can cook it for up to 6 hours if you’ll be gone during the day. Just be careful your chicken breasts don’t get too dry.
  • You can also add some vegetables to this meal. Try adding some fresh spinach, peas or broccoli to your slow cooker angel chicken.

FAQ

Can You Use Frozen Chicken?

Its best to thaw your chicken before adding it to your slow cooker. Frozen chicken takes a longer time to reach the proper temperature in a slow cooker. Your chicken will also release water while it’s thawing which will make your sauce runny.

Do I Have to Use the Whole Stick of Butter?

No you can use half a stick of butter. Your chicken will still be tasty if you don’t use the whole stick. Just depends on how buttery you want your angel chicken to be.
